José Bermúdez graduated from the Bachelor of Industrial Design at Iberoamerican University. He has his own design studio in which he highlights the functionality and simplicity of the objects he designs. The designer had always wanted to work with natural fibers. Paloma Romero, who has worked for three years with artisans from Guerrero and Morelos, uses palm leaves as raw material in a simple but creative way. This two merged their creativity designing these modular mats made from palm leaf, where Zaavia’s artisanal work and Studio José Bermúdez’s simple and functional design meet halfway.
On this “Leaf” design, we wanted to create an emotion through the organic shape of the leaves that fall from trees, giving the buyers a sense of a full-leaf landscape inside their home.
We highlighted the label by giving it an important part in the design, instead of hiding it.
This set of mats comes in three different sizes, which are adaptable to any space, whether it’s a house or an apartment. They’re easy to clean and they’re versatile, because they can be used as the conventional mat or be hung on walls.
